Australian factual producer WildBear Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it has reorganised its senior management team, creating an eightโ€‘person leadership group to steer the company through what it calls โ€œthe biggest transformation weโ€™ve seen in decadesโ€ in the entertainment industry. The reshuffle places veteran producer Jane McAllister as chief executive, adds a new head of international sales, and promotes two longโ€‘time staffers to oversee content development and technology integration.

The move comes as the global market for documentary and factual series is being reshaped by streaming platforms, dataโ€‘driven commissioning and the rise of generativeโ€‘AI tools that can speed up research and editing. WildBear, best known for the awardโ€‘winning series โ€œStuff The British Stole,โ€ โ€œRise of the Dictatorsโ€ and โ€œEvery Little Thing,โ€ has seen its output double in the past three years, but its investors warned that the pace of change could outstrip traditional production models. Industry analysts note that audiences now expect highโ€‘quality factual content on demand, and that producers must adapt quickly to new distribution deals and tighter budgets.

The new team includes McAllister, who spent a decade leading factual commissions at the BBC before returning to Australia, and Alex Tan, a former Netflix acquisitions executive appointed as head of international sales. Tan said the restructuring will allow WildBear to โ€œmove faster on coโ€‘production deals and bring our stories to more markets.โ€ The company also hired dataโ€‘science lead Dr. Priya Nair to embed AIโ€‘assisted research into the development pipeline. In a brief statement, WildBearโ€™s board chair, Michael Reed, praised the changes as โ€œa decisive step to keep our brand at the forefront of factual storytelling.โ€

WildBear plans to roll out the new structure over the next quarter, targeting a slate of six new series for both local broadcasters and global streaming services. The firm will pilot AIโ€‘driven content scouting tools on its upcoming โ€œRise of the Dictatorsโ€ sequel and explore joint ventures with European partners. If the reshuffle delivers the promised agility, WildBear could set a benchmark for midโ€‘size producers navigating the fastโ€‘evolving factual market.
