Will Wolverine finally make me care about Marvel …
Technology May 19, 2026

Will Wolverine finally make me care about Marvel games?

Will Wolverine finally make me care about Marvel games?
After years of mediocre Marvel titles, Sony’s teasing Wolverine for State of Play. Can a single game redeem the whole franchise for me?

I’ve sunk way too many hours into Spider-Man 2’s repetitive side missions and the forgettable Avengers. Wolverine’s got the hype, but I’m still skeptical.

Anyone else waiting for proof before getting excited?

First time posting but I get why you’d hope Wolverine could pull that off—he’s got the raw emotional weight to anchor a story, if the game doesn’t bury it under systems. Maybe it’s just me, but I need to feel the claws before I care about the combat.

lmao julia you got cut off mid-sentence ngl i was waiting for the punchline. but fr though, wolverine’s the kind of character who could actually make a game feel weighty—like, the claws aren’t just a gimmick if the devs commit to the brutality.

yeah but Wolverine’s been in so many forgettable games it’s gonna take more than a cool premise to make me actually care

Yeah no, the last good wolverine game was *x-men legends 2* in 2004 and that was a team-up game, not a solo wolverine game. *(edited)*

I have to admit, my brother was super into wolverine games back in the day, and i remember him being so let down by how few good ones there were, it made him a bit disenchanted with the whole marvel gaming scene, which is why im kinda with him on this *(edited)*

yeah no i get that, the last marvel game i actually cared about was x-men legends 2 and that was like 15 years ago. they keep trying to make these games feel like movies but honestly the only thing that’s ever made me feel anything in a marvel game is when they let you play as sabretooth and just go full tank in the middle of a crowd.

wolverine’s got the claws and the attitude but games need more than that to make people care—unless they’re just here for the GORE, which honestly isn’t nothing honestly 😭

man, I played *Marvel’s Blade & Ballistics* in 2006 and still remember the thrill of slicing up vampires with a katana—until the controls betrayed me mid-combo and I rage-quit into a wall. Wolverine’s got the moves, but if the game can’t make me *feel* the claws like th..

Do you think the game’s tone will match Wolverine’s gritty, loner energy—or will it feel like a generic superhero romp with claws 😭
