Googleโ€™s Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 rollout appeared to be going smoothly when it landed late last week. But for those who need to manually sideload it, the experience has been considerably less straightforward. Googleโ€™s official OTA download links now appear to be broken, returning a 404 error when users attempt to download the required files.

We checked Googleโ€™s manual download page and encountered the same 404 errors when attempting to access Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 OTA images. That suggests this isnโ€™t simply an isolated problem affecting a handful of users.

There are also several reports from Pixel owners on Reddit describing the same issue. Some users say they have been trying to download the full OTA package for several days, only to repeatedly encounter a โ€œ404 Not Foundโ€ response.

The timing is particularly inconvenient for testers who rely on manual installation. One Reddit user said their Pixel was stuck in a reboot loop and they were unable to access the OTA file needed to recover it.

It isnโ€™t clear why Googleโ€™s download links are returning 404 errors, or whether the company intentionally removed the files while investigating an issue. Google has not publicly explained the outage, so itโ€™s too early to conclude that the Beta 4 software itself is responsible.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 includes fixes for several issues, including overheating and unexpected reboots, broken app drawer search, Bluetooth call audio problems, notification shade failures, and Face Unlock issues. Pixel 6 and 6 Pro remain unsupported, while Pixel 11 devices are yet to receive QPR2 support.

Weโ€™ve reached out to Google for more information about the broken OTA download links and will update this article if the company provides an explanation.
