Spotify has launched a new feature called Playlist Notes, allowing users to add context to the tracks in their playlists. This update comes after the introduction of Running Mode and User Notes features in recent months. With Playlist Notes, users can now annotate individual tracks, audiobooks, and podcasts within their playlists, enhancing the listening experience by providing personal insights and memories associated with the music.

The introduction of Playlist Notes builds on the User Notes feature, which was unveiled last month. Previously, users could only add notes to specific tracks in their playlists. Now, with Playlist Notes, both users and Spotify's editorial team can contribute explanations and context for the songs included in curated playlists. This feature aims to deepen the engagement of listeners with the music they love by sharing the reasons behind their selections or highlighting the cultural significance of certain tracks.

To use Playlist Notes, users simply need to open a playlist they own or collaborate on, select a track, and add their note. The note appears directly below the track, along with the user's name, making it easy for others to see. Additionally, Spotify editors will utilize this feature in popular playlists, such as Todayโ€™s Top Hits and RapCaviar, to provide context on why particular songs are featured, making the playlists not just collections of music but also narratives.

Currently, Playlist Notes is rolling out in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It is accessible to users aged 16 and older on both Spotify Premium and Free plans. As this feature expands to user-created playlists in over 100 regions on Android and iOS, it is expected to enrich the platform's community aspect, making it a more interactive space for music lovers to connect and share their experiences.
