Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is urging the club to make additional signings before the transfer window closes on September 1. As he prepares for his first full Premier League season in charge, Carrick emphasizes the need to strengthen the squad, particularly in areas like left-back and central midfield.

This call for action comes in the wake of a summer where United has already spent £83 million on players, including Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. The addition of Karl Darlow as a backup goalkeeper has also been completed. However, Carrick is keenly aware that the team still has weaknesses as they look to return to the Champions League after a two-year hiatus. The urgency is heightened by the fact that the club has missed out on key targets, opting not to match the offers made by their rivals.

While Carrick appreciates the signings made so far, he insists that more needs to be done. "We want more, we need more, we keep looking for how we can do that," he stated. He acknowledges the financial constraints but is adamant that the club must strive for improvement. Carrick's determination reflects his understanding of the pressures that come with leading a globally recognized club like Manchester United, emphasizing the importance of setting the right tone and expectations for the team.

Interestingly, Carrick did not confirm whether star player Marcus Rashford would remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline. Despite numerous opportunities to reassure fans, Carrick refrained from making any definitive statements about Rashford's future. He did, however, highlight that Rashford is just one of many players he has previously coached and managed, reinforcing that each player is treated equally in the squad. As the transfer window nears its end, the decisions made in the coming days could be crucial for Manchester United’s ambitions this season.
