Netflix has begun principal photography on a sequel to its 2025 action thriller *Ad Vitam*, with Guillaume Canet returning as ex‑elite agent Franck Lazareff. The new film, tentatively titled *Ad Vitam Eternam*, is filming in Paris, Marseille and a few locations in Morocco as of early March 2026.

The first film drew over 45 million viewers in its first two weeks on the platform and earned a 4.2‑star rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praised Canet’s gritty performance and the film’s tight pacing, noting it as one of the few French‑language action thrillers to break into mainstream streaming audiences. Netflix has been building a slate of international action franchises, and the success of *Ad Vitam* fits that strategy. The sequel will deepen the conspiracy that was hinted at in the original, turning Lazareff’s personal loss into a global threat.

*Ad Vitam Eternam* follows Lazareff as he uncovers a new network of shadowy operatives after his wife’s disappearance. The script was co‑written by Canet and screenwriter Marie‑Claire Bouchard, and the film is directed by Jean‑Luc Lemoine, known for his work on *The Night of the 12th*. Production is expected to wrap by late June, with post‑production slated for July and August. The budget is reported at €25 million, a significant investment for Netflix’s French‑language content.

The film is slated for a 2027 release, with a limited theatrical run in France and a simultaneous streaming launch on Netflix. Executives say the sequel will drive subscriber engagement in European markets and position Netflix as a leader in high‑budget, high‑concept action storytelling. Fans can expect the same blend of relentless action, political intrigue and the personal stakes that made the first film a hit.
