Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has taken aim at the โ€œdoom narrativeโ€ dominating Silicon Valleyโ€™s AI debate. In a 6,500-word manifesto titled โ€œThe Future Is for Everyone,โ€ published on his personal blog late Monday, Zuckerberg argued that fears of runaway artificial intelligence are overblown and that Metaโ€™s open-source approach will put power directly into usersโ€™ hands.

The timing reflects a growing rift between Meta and rivals like OpenAI and Google, which have warned of catastrophic outcomes from unchecked AI development. Zuckerbergโ€™s document dismisses those warnings as self-serving or misguided, positioning Meta as the only major tech company committed to open models that anyone can access and modify. He frames AI not as an existential threat, but as a tool that will unlock new creative and economic opportunities for billions of people.

The manifesto comes just weeks after Meta open-sourced its latest Llama AI model, a move that drew criticism from safety researchers concerned about misuse. Zuckerberg countered that such openness accelerates innovation and prevents any single company from controlling the future. He also derided what he called โ€œarmchair philosophersโ€ predicting doom, saying their warnings lack evidence and ignore the real benefits of AI in education, healthcare, and small business growth.

Zuckerberg is betting Metaโ€™s bet on open AI will define the next decade of technology. If regulators or public sentiment shift toward stricter controls, Metaโ€™s strategy could face pushback. But for now, Zuckerberg is doubling down: more open models, more global access, and a refusal to accept that AIโ€™s future must be one of fear.
