The Android handheld space has become highly competitive, as companies like ANBERNIC, Retroid, and AYANEO all duke it out with interesting products. Now, Lenovo has decided to step into the arena with a newly launched Android handheld of its own.

Lenovo launched the Legion Cloud Gaming Handheld C700 in China this week, coming months after we first heard about it . This is a huge Android handheld designed for (surprise) cloud gaming. The device supports โ€œone-touchโ€ streaming from a PC via Lenovoโ€™s proprietary Legion Stream protocol and an included dongle. In fact, the company says you can stream games while offline. That could be handy if youโ€™re traveling.

The C700 looks like a huge handheld otherwise, featuring a 7.82-inch FHD 120Hz LCD panel and measuring 292.9mm across (11.5 inches). It also weighs in at 556 grams, which isnโ€™t far off the Steam Deck OLEDโ€™s 640 grams.

As for the core specs, this looks like a budget offering through and through. Expect a middling Dimensity 7400 processor with active cooling, 6GB to 8GB of RAM, 128GB to 256GB of expandable storage, and an 8,000mAh battery. Nevertheless, the combo of a frugal chip and a huge battery should result in great endurance.

On the input front, Lenovo says youโ€™re getting dual TMR analog sticks, Hall effect triggers, and a pair of rear buttons. Other notable features include Android 16 (a rarity on Android handhelds), a 3.5mm port, USB 2.0 transfer speeds, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6E.

The Lenovo Legion Cloud Gaming Handheld C700 is available for 2,199 yuan (~$327) for the 8GB/256GB model. Thereโ€™s no word on pricing for the 6GB/128GB variant, and weโ€™re not sure about global availability. This price still seems a little steep for a conventional Android handheld, as devices like the AYN Odin 2 Portal and MANGMI Pocket Max bring similarly large designs with more powerful internals.

Nevertheless, the addition of a dongle for offline game streaming makes the C700 stand out from other Android handhelds. This also seems like a more reputable offering than Lenovoโ€™s controversial white-labeled $60 Linux handheld .
