Israeli forces detained multiple Palestinians during a raid in the Qalandiya refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday. The operation involved demolishing a carwash and disrupting daily activities in the area. Eyewitness reports indicate that soldiers distributed leaflets announcing a "large-scale operation" was underway.

This raid is part of a broader trend of increased military activity in the West Bank, where an average of 50 raids have been reported daily in recent weeks. The Israeli government has faced mounting criticism for these actions, particularly as conditions for Palestinians continue to deteriorate. Human rights groups, including B’Tselem, argue that these operations aim to make the territory increasingly unlivable for Palestinians. The situation has escalated following directives from Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz to enhance military control in refugee camps, reminiscent of operations in Jenin and Tulkarem.

The raid itself saw significant violence, with reports of an unarmed young man being run over by an Israeli military vehicle, leaving his condition unknown. A journalist covering the incident was severely assaulted by soldiers, while local mosques were barred from holding dawn prayers. Footage shared by Quds News Network shows Israeli soldiers aggressively confronting civilians, raising concerns about the use of excessive force during these operations.

As tensions rise, the implications for Palestinian communities are severe. Rights organizations warn that the ongoing military presence and raids could constitute acts of ethnic cleansing. Settler violence has also surged since the conflict in Gaza began nearly three years ago, with accusations that the Israeli government supports such actions. With the current trajectory, the prospect of peace appears increasingly remote, leaving many to question the future stability of the region.
