At least 30 Yemeni government troops were killed in Houthi rebel attacks on military camps this week in central Yemen. The strikes reportedly occurred in the al-Ruwaik area of Marib province and the al-Abr area of Hadramawt, targeting facilities run by the Emergency Forces.

The escalation of violence comes amid ongoing tensions in Yemen's civil war, which has drawn in regional powers. The Houthis, who control much of north-west Yemen and receive backing from Iran, launched the attacks as a response to what they describe as "large Saudi military build-ups" at the targeted camps. This conflict has been fueled by the Saudi-led coalition's support for the Yemeni government, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Health Minister Qasim Bahibah condemned the attacks, labeling them as "treacherous." He suggested that the strikes were aimed at undermining security and stability in Yemen. While he did not provide specific casualty figures, local sources confirmed that the death toll has reached at least 30. The violence marks a significant increase in hostilities, with both sides exchanging accusations of aggression.

The situation in Yemen remains dire, with millions facing food insecurity and lack of basic services. The recent attacks could further complicate efforts for peace negotiations. The international community is watching closely, as any escalation in violence risks deepening the humanitarian crisis and prolonging the conflict.
