The first set of Googlebook devices is expected to arrive as soon as mid-September . While Google has yet to formally confirm the launch schedule, Acer, one of its hardware partners, recently teased its first Googlebook at IFA 2026 , priming us for whatโs coming.
Ahead of the Googlebook launch, weโve discovered a set of features under the umbrella of โDevice Intelligence.โ As the name suggests, these features use AI to help you get the most out of the Android-powered laptop experience.
Youโre reading an Authority Insights story. Authority Insights brings you all the latest exclusive reports, app teardowns, leaks, and in-depth tech coverage from the Android Authority team that you wonโt find anywhere else.
Weโve been able to grab an early build of the Device Intelligence app meant for Googlebooks. The first use case weโve spotted in this build is the ability to automatically sort files and create collections to store locally in folders.
The AI sorting feature could be voluntary and was turned off by default when we found it. When we enabled the AI sorting feature, the app showed its description in a pop-up, as can be seen in the screenshot below, along with an example.
The example the app shares describes AI automatically gathering all files related to a trip you might be planning, letting you access them all in a single place. The pop-up also emphasizes that files donโt leave Googlebook and arenโt used to train any AI.
Notably, this isnโt the first time weโve seen the automatic file-sorting feature. Back in May, the function was previewed as part of a leak of Aluminum OS , which is the codename for the new Android-based operating system that will power Googlebooks .
