Google just extended Gemini Omni’s surprisingly generous free offer

AI video generators are getting ridiculously good, but actually playing around with the best ones can often mean running straight into a paywall. Google briefly removed that problem last week by letting anyone try Gemini Omni for free, and apparently, it isn’t ready to close the door just yet.

Google originally opened up free access to Gemini Omni on July 30, allowing Gemini users to generate up to ten videos without needing a Google AI subscription. The promotion was supposed to end on August 4 at 12 PM PT, but Google has now extended it until August 11 at 12 PM PT/3 PM ET. More importantly, the allowance hasn’t been reduced. You can still create up to ten videos at no cost, whether you’re using Gemini on the web or through the app.

That’s a surprisingly generous playground if you’ve been curious about AI video but didn’t want to pay to experiment with it. Ten generations gives you enough room to do more than type one prompt, watch something bizarre appear, and call it a day. You could turn a vacation clip into something completely surreal, remix an existing video, experiment with different visual ideas for a social post, or see how far you can push Gemini before things start getting weird.

And getting started doesn’t require much digging around, either. Open Gemini , head into the tools menu , and choose Create video . From there, Gemini Omni can work with text, images, and existing video, so you’re not limited to generating a clip entirely from scratch.

That’s also what makes Omni more interesting than a basic text-to-video generator. Google designed the experience to feel more conversational, meaning you can create something and then continue refining or remixing it instead of treating every generation like a completely new project. If the first result isn’t quite what you pictured, you can keep working with it.

Google hasn’t explained exactly why it extended the promotion. However, the original announcement prompted plenty of people to share their Gemini Omni creations on X, so it’s clear that temporarily dropping the subscription requirement got people experimenting with the model.
