CoreWeave, a specialist cloudโ€‘compute provider focused on GPUโ€‘heavy workloads, announced it will build two new data centres in Singapore and Melbourne, investing roughly $200โ€ฏmillion to expand its Asiaโ€‘Pacific presence. The move comes as the companyโ€™s revenue grew 55โ€ฏ% last year, and it has been named the top AIโ€‘related pick by Piperโ€ฏSandler analysts, who highlighted the firmโ€™s rapid scaling and niche focus on AIโ€‘training workloads.

The expansion is driven by a surge in demand for lowโ€‘latency, highโ€‘performance compute in the region. Singapore and Australia are becoming key hubs for fintech, gaming and machineโ€‘learning startups that need fast access to GPU power. CoreWeaveโ€™s modelโ€”offering dedicated GPU clusters rather than generalโ€‘purpose cloud servicesโ€”fits well with businesses that run large neuralโ€‘net models or render complex graphics. The company has already secured contracts with several regional tech firms, and the new sites will add 1,200 GPU cores by the end of 2026.

CoreWeave said the Singapore facility will partner with local telecom operators to ensure fibre connectivity, while the Melbourne hub will leverage the cityโ€™s growing tech ecosystem. The companyโ€™s CEO, Ryanโ€ฏSmith, said the investment will create 150 new jobs and position CoreWeave as a regional leader in AI infrastructure. Piperโ€ฏSandlerโ€™s analyst, Mayaโ€ฏKumar, added that the expansion could lift CoreWeaveโ€™s valuation to $5โ€ฏbillion if the company captures even a modest share of the $200โ€ฏbillion regional cloud market. She noted that competitors like AWS and Azure are still building out their GPU fleets, giving CoreWeave a firstโ€‘mover advantage in niche services.

Looking ahead, CoreWeave plans to roll out additional sites in Tokyo and Seoul over the next two years, aiming to serve the broader Asiaโ€‘Pacific market. The company will also explore partnerships with universities to support AI research. Investors will watch the rollout closely, as the success of the expansion could validate the firmโ€™s business model and support a potential IPO or a larger funding round. The move also signals a broader trend of specialized cloud providers carving out profitable niches amid the commoditisation of mainstream cloud services.
