Bloom Energy's stock has surged by 150% in 2026, bouncing back from a steep decline in July. After falling over 30% due to a short-seller report and market volatility related to artificial intelligence, shares dropped to around $163. As of now, the stock is trading at approximately $244, marking a substantial recovery and a year-to-date gain that remains in triple digits.

This resurgence comes amid a growing demand for Bloom's solid oxide fuel-cell systems, which allow customers to generate electricity on-site. This capability is especially appealing to data center operators who face lengthy grid connection times, sometimes spanning years. Bloom's systems can be deployed in as little as 90 days, with one notable installation completed for Oracle in just 55 days. This "time-to-power" advantage has contributed significantly to Bloomโ€™s exploding sales, with the company recently reporting its first-quarter revenue crossing the billion-dollar mark.

Looking ahead, analysts predict Bloom's revenue could more than double in the next two years, estimating total revenue for 2026 between $3.9 billion and $4.2 billion. However, the company faces challenges; its backlog is growing faster than revenue, raising questions about manufacturing capacity and supply constraints. CEO K.R. Sridhar has noted that Bloom's growth cannot match the rapid scaling seen in software companies, which could hinder sales despite the strong demand.

Investors are weighing these factors carefully. While Bloom's recent performance is promising and highlights a strong market position in a rapidly evolving energy landscape, the stock's elevated valuation raises concerns about sustainability. As the company navigates these challenges, its ability to deliver on future growth will be critical for maintaining investor confidence.
