Daniel Kinahan, the Irishโborn Lebanese crime boss, was extradited from Dubai to the United Kingdom on 7 March 2023, a move that has been described as the most highโprofile extradition in recent Irish history. The extradition followed the arrest of Kinahan by UAE police in March 2022 and a request from the UKโs Serious Crime Office. He faces 13 drugโtrafficking charges, 12 armsโsmuggling charges and 12 moneyโlaundering offences in the UK, and he has been charged with similar crimes in Ireland and the United States.
The case has drawn attention because it links a transnational criminal network to both Ireland and Lebanon.
